SQL for Displaying a Birthdate as Years/Months

This sql script is very useful for displaying the number of years and months of a specific date - such as a birthdate. The code below will show you how to accomplish that.

Create Function [dbo].[AgeMonths](@prmDOB As SmallDAteTime) Returns Varchar(150) AS Begin Declare @prmREturn varchar(150) Select @prmREturn = cast((DATEDIFF(m, @prmDOB, GETDATE())/12) as varchar) + ' Years ' + cast((DATEDIFF(m, @prmDOB, GETDATE())%12) as varchar) + ' Months' Return @prmREturn End

A sample call to this function would be: Select dbo.AgeMonths('4/29/74')
which would return: X Years X Months
