Using the CharIndex Function

The CharIndex function is very useful for getting the first or starting location of an expression or characters in a given string. Sometimes you need to find where a specific string or character starts in an string. This sample script will show you how to accomplish this. For more details on the CHARINDEX function click here

Select CustomerName, CHARINDEX('Golf',CustomerName) From tblCustomers Where CustomerName Like '%golf%'
